M&C hit by double resignation
Millennium and Copthorne Hotels has announced the resignation of both its chief executive and its finance director.
Chief executive, John Wilson, who has held the position for six years, is to retire on 1 March, while finance director and company secretary, David Thomas, is to become finance director of games retail company, Game Group. Thomas has said he will remain with Millennium and Copthorne until July if necessary.
Wilson has said he will continue to offer support to the group after his retirement to ‘ensure a smooth handover’ but until a new executive is appointed, chief operating officer, Tony Potter and executive director, Wong Hong Ren, will take on his responsibilities.
Chair, Kwek Leng Beng, said he would be sorry to see Wilson leave. “Since he joined as chief executive, John has been at the forefront of the group’s development, overseeing its transformation into a truly global player. I wish to extend our thanks for his important role in leading the growth of the group,” he said.
The company will be announcing preliminary results on 19 February.
