Luxury hotel and spa gets planning consent
CMR Leisure has received planning consent for the 4/5-star White House Hotel and Spa, to be located in 45 acres of parkland in the village of Tregorrick near St Austell in Cornwall, south west England.
The company is set to invest £20m converting a Grade II Regency country house into a 66-bedroom boutique hotel and spa with 60 wooden self-catering and time-share lodges in the grounds.
The spa will include five treatment rooms, a relaxation room, a gym, saunas and various other heat experiences, health and beauty treatments and an infinity-edge pool. The facility will be open for membership as well as to guests.
The property will also boast a standalone brasserie restaurant located on the site of a former orangery.
The White House Hotel and Spa is Rudrum Holding Group's – CMR Leisure's parent company – first venture into the leisure industry.
"There is a clear need for more facilities of this type in the area,” said Richard Whitehouse, managing director of Rudrum Holdings Group, "and it coincides with the local authority’s £50m regeneration plan for St Austell’s town centre.”
Discussions regarding how the hotel will be managed are well underway with a nationally branded operator. Construction is set to begin this autumn and be completed by early 2007. Details: www.rudrumholdings.co.uk
