Luxury G-Spa opens at Hotel Gansevoort
The owner of the Hotel Gansevoort in New York, WSA Management, has opened a 4,300sq ft (400sq m) high-end spa on 1 March and plans to roll out the Gansevoort brand to the south and west coasts of the US.
Designed by Robert D Henry architects, the new basement spa has three treatment rooms made of red-orange painted glass which convert to VIP suites at night.
Other facilities include three infinity-edge hydrotubs, a steamroom, a Hiro Haraguchi hair salon, a lounge area, a juice bar and a spa menu.
A number of traditional treatments will be on offer as well as wet treatments and mineral soaks that utlise the spa pool.
Brands stocked will include Epicuren, REN, Trilogy, Anakiri, MD Skincare and Sonya Dakar.
A 24-hour fitness centre has also opened next to the spa.
The hotel itself has 187 bedrooms and is located in the city’s meatpacking district.
Existing leisure amenities include a Japanese restaurant, Ono, and a roof-top development including a roof garden and heated open-air pool complete with underwater lighting and music.
WSA is currently planning two more properties – Gansevoort South in Miami which will open in autumn 2006 and boast a 40,000sq ft (3,700sq m) spa and Gansevoort West in LA which will have a 5,000sq ft (460sq m) spa and open early in 2007. Details: www.hotelgansevoort.com
