Longleat acquires Bishopstrow House hotel
The 32-bedroom Bishopstrow House hotel in Warminster, Wiltshire, which was formerly a part of the von Essen Hotels estate, has been bought out of administration by Longleat Enterprises.
The Grade II-listed property is located close to the Longleat estate, which is home to the 7th Marquess of Bath and includes Longleat Safari Park and Longleat Adventure Park.
Christie + Co completed the sale on behalf of von Essen's administrators, Ernst and Young, with the English country house hotel including the Halcyon Spa.
The spa, which uses Elemis products, boasts four therapy rooms - one of which is a double treatment room - and a Rasul Mud Therapy Room decorated in a Turkish Ottoman style.
Other hotel facilities include an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool; a relaxation suite; a sauna and steamroom; a whirlpool; and a Life Fitness exercise suite.
Christie + Co managing director Chris Day said: "Bishopstrow House is a quintessential Georgian country retreat and a very fine country house hotel.
"The von Essen Hotels portfolio has attracted some significant bidders, Longleat among them, and we expect to announce further sales in the period ahead."
