London Boroughs invited to prove tourism commitment
London Tourist Board and Convention Bureau (LTB) is inviting entries from London boroughs and their partners for the Local Tourism Initiative Award 2003, part of the annual London Tourism Awards.
The award, developed in partnership with the Association of London Government, has been established in recognition of the important role local authorities play in the development and management of tourism to London.
The criteria are based on improving the visitor experience through practices such as environmental improvements, customer service, 'good neighbour' projects, tourism for all and quality assurance initiatives.
Entries can be submitted by local authorities or partnership and regeneration agencies providing they are working in conjunction with at least one London local authority.
LTB's director of development, Wendy Neville, said: 'London Borough of Southwark and the Pool of London Partnership demonstrated in 2002 how local government and partnerships can work together to improve the quality of the visitor experience and contribute to London's leading world city position and at the same time improve the environment for local residents.
'We are looking forward to receiving entries of a similarly high standard in the London Tourism Awards 2003.'
The deadline for entries is 14 May with the winners to be announced in August. Entry forms and criteria are available from LTB on +44 (0)20 7932 2092
