Live Nation to 'spread' 2012 experience
Live Nation Music UK has been chosen by London mayor Boris Johnson, Tower Hamlets Council and the Royal Parks to 'spread' the capital's Olympic experience.
The group has been selected as the event organiser and promoter of London's four Festival Live Sites during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square, Victoria Park and Potters Fields Park will host the Live Sites, which will allow residents and visitors to experience the Games on large outdoor screens.
The appointment will see Live Nation granted commercial rights to stage concerts and offer hospitality packages, food and drink concessions and merchandising opportunities. Boris Johnson said: "Whether it is watching the Games as they unfold, or seeing a fabulous international act performing against these wonderful backdrops, we're in for a summer to remember."
Live Nation UK chief operating officer John Probyn added: "This is a remarkable opportunity for Londoners and the UK to show the rest of the world how to celebrate en masse and embrace the spirit of the 2012 Games."
