Leisure property award winners 2003 announced
The winners of the 2003 Leisure Property Awards were announced at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Tuesday.
Jointly organised by the Leisure Property Forum and Property Week, the awards have been designed to recognise the best developments and operators within the leisure industry.
Winners on the night included PY Gerbeau, chief executive of X-Leisure, who was named leisure property personality of the year; Odeon, which won best multiplex operator; and David Lloyd Leisure, which took the award for best health and fitness operator as well as the overall award for operator of the year.
In further operator awards, Carluccios won best food and beverage operator, Luminar took the award for best nightclub operator, Megabowl won best bowling/FEC operator and Grosvenor Casinos took the award for best casino operator.
In the leisure scheme categories, Newcastle’s The Gate was named best commercial UK mixed-use leisure scheme, while Madrid Xanadu won best continental European leisure scheme.
Brighton Dome, Museum and Corn Exchange and Odessey Pavilion, Belfast, won the best leisure regeneration project awards for small and large projects respectively.
KC Stadium and sports and leisure complex in Hull won the best public sector funded leisure project award; with LA Fitness, Victoria, winning the best small leisure project category.
Best hotel went to Alton Towers’ new Splash Landings Hotel, leisure marketing campaign of the year went to Land Rover Adventure Zone, Bluewater; and Davis Coffer Lyons was named best leisure consultancy.
Attended by around 800 leisure property professionals, the awards were hosted by tv presenter, Angus Deayton.
