Leisure consultation for South Oxfordshire
South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) is consulting with local residents over proposals for the development of leisure facilities in the area.
A new swimming pool and gym for Didcot, improved facilities at Berinsfield's Abbey Sports Centre and increased changing areas for pitches near Henley are being mooted. Upgraded tennis courts in Thame are also among the plans, which are being put to local residents in order for the council to know if the proposed facilities will meet demand.
According to SODC, the plans are currently "aspirational" as a result of uncertainty over future funding and requires local residents to comment in order to ratify the proposals. Bill Service, cabinet member for leisure at SODC, said: "Providing the correct amount of leisure and recreational facilities that meets the needs of people in the district is vital to the health of our residents."
