Leisure centre lifeguard admits spying on women as they undressed
A lifeguard has pleaded guilty to four charges of attempted voyeurism after he was caught looking over changing cubicles to watch women undress.
John Jackson, 21, had been a lifeguard at Larkfield Leisure Centre for more than three years when a woman in a towel noticed him peering over the top of a cubicle partition in August, according to Kent Online. The woman and her husband reported Jackson to the centre, and subsequent checks of CCTV showed he had spied on three other women the previous day.
Jackson pleaded guilty to four counts of attempted voyeurism at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court last week and was warned that he faced a “high level community sentence” when he returns to court next month. He may also have to sign the sex offenders’ register.
Martin Guyton, chief executive at Tonbridge and Malling Leisure Trust, which operates Larkfield Leisure Centre, told Kent Online: “We take the health, safety and privacy of those using our facilities extremely seriously.
“The member of staff resigned from his post with immediate effect before his disciplinary hearing and we have since written to him banning him from all our sites.
“Larkfield Leisure Centre is a modern centre with family friendly changing facilities segregated into family, men and women changing areas, which are monitored by CCTV and staff.
"This is an isolated incident and we will continue to be vigilant and ensure we maintain appropriate safeguards to prevent future incidents of this nature.”
