Leading artists to design London 2012 posters
Tracey Emin; Martin Creed; and Chris Ofili are among 12 artists to be recruited by London 2012 organisers to design official posters for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Other artists to be confirmed include Fiona Banner; Anthea Hamilton; Gary Hume; Michael Craig-Martin; Howard Hodgkin; Sarah Morris; and Bridget Riley. Bob and Roberta Smith; and Rachel Whiteread will also design official posters, which are to go on show at Tate Britain in a free exhibition - part of the London 2012 Festival.
It comes as Sebastian Coe - chair of the London Organising Committee of the 2012 Games (LOCOG) - announced the one-year countdown to the London 2012 Festival on 21 June. More than 7 million people are expected to enjoy free events as part of the festival, which is to include concerts, outdoor performances and specially commissioned films.
Coe said: "The London 2012 Festival programme for next year will showcase the incredible creative talent we have here in the UK. "Millions will be able to get involved all across the UK, the vast majority for free; it will be a fitting finale for the Cultural Olympiad."
