'Largest liner' to enter UK cruise market
Carnival Corporation has announced that the largest cruise ship built specifically for the UK market - capable of accommodating 3,611 passengers - is to enter service in March 2015.
The 141,000-ton vessel, which is yet to be named, will be built at Fincantieri's Monfalcone shipyard in Italy and will see the P&O Cruises brand offer "unprecedented" facilities. Specifications and "product innovations" will be announced in due course, with the vessel forming part of Carnival's bid to construct two-to-three ships per year.
Carnival Corporation chair and chief executive officer Micky Arison revealed that the UK market was a key area of growth for the company Arison said: "innovative vessels such as this new P&O Cruises ship - targeted specifically to British clientele - underscore our commitment to expanding this important cruise region."
