Largest Hilton property in Asia-Pacific set for Japan
Hilton Worldwide has announced the opening of its largest hotel in Asia Pacific - and one of the largest hotels in Japan - the Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk.
Featuring 1,052 guest rooms and more than 6,000sq m (64,583sq ft) of event space, the hotel is the brand's first property in Fukuoka, a major gateway to China and Korea. Formerly known as the JAL Resort Sea Hawk Hotel Fukuoka, the property will undergo around US$20m (£13.7m, €16.4m) of refurbishment, initially focused on its executive floors, foyer and other public areas. The Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk is the eighth Hilton branded property and ninth Hilton Worldwide hotel in Japan.
The hotel forms part of an extensive entertainment complex known as Hawks Town, the island of Kyushu's premier regional centre for entertainment and shopping. It also includes the Fukuoka Yahoo! JAPAN DOME, home stadium of the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks baseball team. Food and beverage outlets include an all-day dining restaurant, specialty restaurants and bars. Meeting and conference facilities include a 4,114sq m (44,283sq ft) ballroom, six function rooms and 13 meeting rooms.
Elsewhere are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a sauna and three wedding chapels, the latter capable of accommodating more than 900 weddings per year.
