Kroenke named St Louis Rams' new owner
US-based businessman Stan Kroenke has been named as the new majority owner of St Louis Rams, after a vote of the National Football League's (NFL) owners in Atlanta.
In addition to St Louis Rams, Kroenke owns the Denver Nuggets basketball team; the Colorado Avalanche ice hockey side; and the Colorado Mammoth lacrosse team. He also owns the largest stake in Arsenal Football Club. Kroenke has become the seventh majority owner in the team's history, taking over from the Rosenbloom family, which has relinquished control of the Rams after two years at the helm.
Chip Rosenbloom said: "Although today is an emotional day and the end of an era for or family, it is also the beginning of a new chapter in the rich history of the St. Louis Rams. We look forward to Stan continuing the great tradition of the organisation." Kroenke added: "The Rosenbloom family deserves our thanks for all their efforts on behalf of a great football organization and a great city. Building organisations that win consistently is a challenge that we understand. We are excited about the opportunity as principal owner of the St Louis Rams."
