Kentucky waterpark announces major expansion
A waterpark in Kentucky, US, has announced a multi-million dollar expansion of its facilities, with a range of new rides supplied by Proslide.
Beech Bend Park's Splash Lagoon in the city of Bowling Green will add Proslide’s Cyclone Saucers, Tidal Wave, Riptide and Polynesian Plunge to the waterpark.
Cyclone Saucers will be the first ever North American installation of ProSlide’s FlyingSaucer, which sees riders fly around the edge of three bowls along a 500ft (152.4m) track.
In addition to Cyclone Saucer, Tidal Wave will give riders the feeling of weightlessness, while Riptide is a dark ride with two funnel sections. Finally Polynesian Plunge will drop riders from the top of a tower into a large swirling bowl.
The US$5m (€4.6m, £3.4m) installation is expected to be complete in time for the 2016 summer season, with a projected opening date of June. The expansion – the largest in the park’s history – is expected to create 25 news jobs at the park.
