Kensington Palace set to reopen in London
London's Kensington Palace is to reopen to the public on 26 March following an extensive £12m transformation project undertaken by Historic Royal Palaces (HRP).
The historic property is currently closed in order for its interiors to be restored as part of the project, while a shop, a café and a lift to allow level access to all floors will also feature.
Elsewhere, the redevelopment has seen the creation of new entrance and community facilities with dedicated spaces for formal and informal learners, as well as local user groups.
Meanwhile, new gardens will link Kensington Palace to the neighbouring park and work has included the reinstatement of historic vistas to and from the building.
The Heritage Lottery Fund has supported the project, in addition to contributions from trusts, sponsors, individuals and members of the public through the palace's fundraising appeal.
HRP chair Charles Mackay said: "Our plans for Kensington Palace will open up the buildings and gardens and increase our visitors' appreciation of the important events that have occurred there."
