Kempinski Hotels is to expand its African portfolio with the opening of a new property in Kenya, following the signing of a management agreement with Simba Corporation.
The Nairobi hotel - scheduled to open later this year - is currently under construction and is set to include a spa with nine treatment rooms, although further details have yet to be confirmed.
Other facilities at the 200-bedroom property will include banqueting and conferencing areas; a fitness centre; three concept restaurants; a bar; and a cigar lounge.
As part of the management agreement, the hotel will also operate a 12-tent Safari Camp in the Olare Orok Conservancy – located next to the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Kempinski Hotels president and CEO Reto Wittwer said: "We are delighted to further expand our presence in Africa with this new landmark hotel in Nairobi."
"This will be our first property in Kenya and Kempinski Hotels will be present in six countries on the African continent altogether."
In addition to the new Nairobi hotel, Kempinski is also planning a new property in Accra, Ghana - the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City. It is also scheduled to open later this year.
The hotel will feature a 2,000sq m (21,528sq ft) Resense Spa with 14 treatment rooms; a beauty parlour; a fitness centre; and a 25m outdoor swimming pool.
