Join the great green celebration!
Holyrood Park is to host a day-long free festival to celebrate the joys of the great outdoors on Sunday 29 April.
Activities will include cycle skill courses, mum and buggy walks, obstacle races, orienteering, ball games, bubble making and face painting. There will also be art activities, geology tours, jogging and a series of stalls.
The event is part of a national celebration of access to the outdoors organised by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) to celebrate enjoyment of the outdoors and encourage the public to remember the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
The Scottish Outdoor Access Festival, which will be held from 28 April to 7 May 2007, will include local events hosted across the country by ranger services, access officers, land managers and their advisers, outdoor education and activity providers and active recreation clubs. Details are at www.outdooraccess-scotland.com
John O’Keefe, area access officer for SNH, said: “Enjoying the outdoors doesn’t have to mean climbing a Munro up north. We have some fantastic areas in and around Edinburgh, including Holyrood Park with the Arthur’s Seat, a Site of Special Scientific Interest just minutes from Princes St. SNH is pleased to be supporting this event.”
