Jamberoo Action Park unveils $20m waterpark plans
Jamberoo Action Park in New South Wales, Australia, is planning a AUD$20m (£9.7m, US$15.8m, €11.5m) expansion called Kangaroo Island.
The development will transform a quarter of the park's grounds with six new water thrill rides including a Giant Rapid River which will connect all the new elements.
According to the masterplan, the new attractions being created are the Rocket, a rocket coaster which will propel people along a tube and up a hill; a new interactive play area five times the size of the existing Billabong Beach play area; the Mammoth Mountain Raft Ride; the Behemoth Bowl, in which riders whirl in a spiral around a massive bowl before dropping into a splashdown pool; and the Tornado, in which rafts loop and twist down the hill before dropping into the huge funnel and shooting out into the pool.
In addition to the main attractions, the development will also include theming such as suspension bridges, dripping logs, rock walls, waterfalls, a wave chamber, a river tunnel cave and water jets as well as food outlets and changing facilities.
The expansion will be completed in five stages over the next six years, with work scheduled to begin in 2010. It is estimated that the new rides will accommodate up to an additional 5,000 people.
