Imperial College acquires BBC site
Imperial College London has completed the £28m acquisition of a 7.7-acre (3.1-hectare) site in west London formerly occupied by the BBC's commercial division.
The Woodlands site is now set to house new teaching, research and administrative facilities for the college, following the relocation of BBC Worldwide to the nearby White City Media Village. However, an Imperial College London spokesperson revealed that the institution's project board had yet to confirm exactly what services and activities would be provided at Woodlands.
Dr Martin Knight, the college's chief operating officer, said: "The acquired site, so close to our existing West London campuses, will allow us to create new teaching, research and administration facilities. It will also allow us to extend provision of quality affordable student accommodation, particularly for postgraduates."
