Hotel Training School plans submitted
Chesham Estates has submitted its planning application for the development of a new Hotel Training School, which is to transform a site in the heart of Bournemouth, Dorset.
Forming part of Bournemouth Borough Council's (BBC) Town Centre Vision, the scheme is to feature a 200-bedroom property with leisure facilities and training space for students. International hotel operator InterContinental Hotel Group is in "detailed discussions" over the operation of the new hotel under its Holiday Inn brand.
Due to open to the public by autumn 2013, Bournemouth University and Bournemouth and Poole College will be responsible for providing the training element of the development. BBC cabinet member for major projects Ian Lancashire said: "This hotel school will safeguard excellence in our hospitality industry, protecting our reputation as a premier seaside destination."
Chesham Estates managing director Julian Seabrook added: "We are delighted to be responsible for such an important project for the town and its economy and for the training of students in the hotel industry for generations to come."
