The 5,600sq ft (520sq m) Ocean Crest Spa has been unveiled as part of the new Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort and Spa, which has now opened overlooking the Pacific Ocean in California, US.
The spa is designed to provide an environmentally-mindful experience and draws upon the healing powers of the sea. Facilities include seven treatment rooms and a couple's room.
Massage tables in the treatment rooms feature built-in Bose sound technology, while the spa also contains two steamrooms and indoor and outdoor relaxation areas.
Many of the treatments included in the Ocean Crest Spa's menu use products from local sources, such as California citrus and flowers from the Carlsbad Flower Field region.
A spokesperson said: "Eco-friendly brands are consistently featured, including Tasha and Co Organics; vegan sea products leader Osea Malibu; and Dr Mostafa Omar, co-founder of SkinCeuticals, current owner of PhytoCeuticals anti-oxidant skin care and a leading world authority on the use of topical vitamin C for skin.
"Dr Omar's physician-calibre products are available at no other spa in the US."
Elsewhere, an ocean-view swimming pool and an expansive fitness area are among facilities at the resort, which is owned by Wave Crest Oceanfront (WCO).
Wave Crest Hotels and Resorts (WCHR) operates Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort and Spa, which has taken 18 months to construct and offers views overlooking the Pacific Ocean from most areas.
WCHR CEO Renato Alesiani said the resort is being operated under a franchise agreement with Hilton, with all operating equipment and criteria "specified" by the global hotel group.
Alesiani said: "There is no difference between a Hilton franchise and a Hilton-managed hotel in regards to training standards, key product offerings, quality assurance programs, guest satisfaction programs or associate opinion surveys.
"Wave Crest Hotels and Resorts operates within the parameters set by the brand. They are the employers, they control revenue management and bear responsibility to the owners for the financial performance of the resort.
"They therefore have control of their staffing guidelines, hiring policies, wages and benefits, as well as all financial policies, strategies and decisions related to the resort operation."
