Health and wellness centre for Winsford

The Gym, a new health and wellness centre, is set to open in the Winsford area of Cheshire at the beginning of October.

The 3,200sq ft centre includes a gym, fully-equipped by Star Trac and two separate studios which will hold more than 35 classes a week. There will also be a health and beauty suite called The Spa @ The Gym.

Facilities on offer at The Spa will include aromatherapy massage and Indian head massage as well as reflexology and Reiki. Beauty treatments will be available and there will be two sunbeds. The Gym will also offer meditation, relaxation, weight management and self-esteem building sessions.

A personal trainer and a Buddist teacher will also be available.

'We want to look after the mind, body and spirit - everything from head to toe,' says The Gym's co-founder, Jason Young. 'We are trying to introduce people to a the healthy side of life and as such, The Gym is just as much about wellness as fitness.'

As part of his aim to make clients completely well, Young intends to introduce a steam room, spa and sauna to The Gym next year and also has plans to build a conservatory which will house a juice bar and relaxation area.

As yet there are no plans to roll out the clubs throughout the country. 'We will see how this one goes and then maybe, in the future, we can roll out the brand to create a chain,' says Young. Details: +44 (0)1606 590770 or www.thegymwinsford.cjb.net
