Haringey leisure centres to receive £15m upgrades
Leisure trust Fusion Lifestyle is to invest £15m to improve four north London leisure centres after signing a management deal with Haringey Council.
The deal will see Fusion run Park Road and Tottenham Green Leisure Centres and Broadwater Farm Community Centre under a 20-year contract, and White Hart Lane Leisure Centre for the next three years.
Staff have already been kitted out with new uniforms and improvements to centre facilities will begin summer 2013.
The leisure centres offer flexible membership packages with no long-term contract and facilities on offer include group exercise, racquet sports, sports halls, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, saunas, therapy rooms, as well as conference and events facilities.
Fusion has a management board made up of voluntary individuals with objectives to improve community access to sport and leisure facilities.
Haringey borough is the fourth most deprived in London and 29.2 per cent of the population is among the 10 per cent most deprived in the country.
Fusion will hold customer forums to get feedback on current provisions and recommendations about future services or facilities.
