Green light for next phase of Wembley City
Brent Council has resolved to approve planning permission for a 160,000sq m (1.7 million sq ft) mixed-use development at the Wembley City complex in north west London.
Quintain Estates and Developments is leading the scheme, which will feature a 1-acre (0.4-hectare) public square; a multi-use games area; up to 20,000sq m (215,278sq ft) of hotel space; and 1,300 new homes. Land along Olympic Way - the iconic route into Wembley Stadium - will be transformed as part of the Wembley City north west development, which will also feature a new shopping street and will surround the new Brent Civic Centre.
Quintain chief executive Adrian Wyatt said: "[This] announcement reflects another important milestone in the development of our major scheme at Wembley." Ben Giddens, the group's commercial development director, added: "The activity on site already demonstrates Quintain's commitment to the regeneration of Wembley."
Designed by Make Architects, the latest plans will complement Quintain's existing efforts to revitalise Wembley City - including a new 361-room Hilton Hotel to open next summer. Work is scheduled to commence on the new multi-screen Cineworld venue and the London Designer Outlet later this year.
