Green light for new David Lloyd club in Bicester
Planning approval has been granted for a new David Lloyd Club in Bicester, Oxfordshire.
The 6,600sqm development will include a health club, spa, sports hall, indoor tennis courts, group exercise classes, an indoor swimming pool, café, changing facilities and spa.
Outdoor facilities will include tennis courts, a permanent air dome for racquets sports, swimming pool, spa garden and a terrace.
The project was given the green light by Cherwell District Council and is part of the larger, 500,000 sq ft, Catalyst Bicester business park development, led by Albion Land and designed by Cornish Architects.
Describing the project in late 2019, Bruce Gardner, new openings director for David Lloyd Leisure, said: “Bicester is undergoing a boom in its development and so makes a very attractive location for us.
"We hope that the new club, with its premium family-friendly facilities, will prove to be a welcome addition to this vibrant region.”
Colin Clarke, Cherwell’s lead member for planning, added: "This development will provide leisure facilities for residents as well as a range of good local jobs, easily accessible by sustainable forms of travel.
"The centre adds to the growing list of attractions in Bicester, encouraging more visitors to the local area.”
