Majorca, Spain-based Gran Meliá Hotels and Resorts will open its "most luxurious hotel to date" alongside the River Tiber in the centre of Rome, Italy, during the first week of April.
The 116-bedroom Gran Meliá Rome Villa Agrippina will incorporate a 350sq m (3,767sq ft) YHI Wellness area comprising four treatment rooms, a relaxation area, and a vitality pool.
A contrast zone with sauna and steam bath and a fitness area with personal trainer service are also part of the YHI Wellness area, while treatments will available on an in-room basis.
Elsewhere, facilities will include the Roman-inspired Vivavoce restaurant; a Roof Garden with 360-degree views overlooking the city; and a pool lounge.
A Gran Meliá spokesperson said: "The hotel embraces the rich local history and stands on the site of what was once the Villa of Agrippina.
"The archaeological remains unearthed during its construction will be on display throughout the elegant galleries and communal areas of the building."
