Godalming Leisure Centre plans approved
Plans for the construction of a new leisure facility in Godalming, Surrey, have been referred to the government after the £6m scheme was given the green light by local councillors.
Waverley Borough Council's (WBC) central area planning committee approved the project at a meeting on 30 March, with a final decision now resting with the communities secretary. The Pozzoni-designed venue will be built by ISG and will boast a 25m swimming pool and a learner pool, as well as a 60-station fitness suite and a dance studio.
Eco-friendly measures will be incorporated into the centre, which is to be located on the site of redundant grass tennis pitches adjacent to the current Broadwater Park centre. A WBC spokesperson said: "The new centre for Godalming will be the culmination of a £11.25m project by Waverley to upgrade its leisure centres."
