Goals Soccer Centres to expand in the UK and US
Five-a-side football operator Goals Soccer Centres has announced plans to open new sites in the UK and US.
The company is looking to launch two new centres in the UK this year and a further three in the US by 2016.
To fund the new centres, Goals – which is listed on the London's Alternative Investment Market – will issue new shares equal to around 9.9 per cent of the firm.
Keith Rogers, Goals managing director, said: "With the placing funds we are well positioned to kick-start a controlled roll-out in the UK and capitalise on our first mover advantage in the US.
"I'm confident that with our re-engineered modular build concept this will deliver significant on-going value to our shareholders."
The announcement was made as the company revealed its full year results to December 2013.
During the year, Goals saw sales increase by 4 per cent to £33.7m while operating profit climbed by 5 per cent to £11.8m. The company currently operates 43 football centres in the UK and one in Los Angeles, US.
Goals was the target of a number of aborted takeover bids in 2012 – including one from rival firm Powerleague.
