GLL venues accredited as Olympic and Paralympic training camps
Six sporting venues managed by London-based leisure trust Greenwich Leisure (GLL) have been selected as Pre-Games Training Camps for the 2012 Paralympic Games.
The facilities - Clissold Leisure Centre in Hackney, Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, Mile End Park Leisure Centre & Stadium in Tower Hamlets, Newham Leisure Centre, Sutton Arena Leisure Centre and Waltham Forest Track & Pool - have been selected for a range of disciplines including paralympic athletics, judo, wheelchair basketball and fencing.
The Paralympic accreditation follows the annoucement that 13 GLL-managed sites have been accredited as Pre-Games Training Camps for the Olympic Games.
The list of approved venues will now form part of a guide be circulated to all National Olympic Committees and National Paralympic Committees which will then decide where they base themselves or where to send individual athletes to prepare and acclimatise for London 2012.
Peter Bundey, GLL director, said: "GLL has been a long-term supporter of London's Olympic bid and we are delighted to be offered the opportunity to assist with training facilities to international paralympians in the run up to the 2012 Games."
