Fusion Lifestyle breathe new life in to Wycombe Rye Lido
Fusion Lifestyle is celebrating their extensive renovation of the Wycombe Rye Lido (formerly Holywell Mead Pool), as it opens to the public with a brand new state of the art gym, indoor cycle studio, group exercise studio, and revamped changing facilities for the gym and studio users.
The site also offers three outdoor tennis courts, and there are plans for development of these courts into all weather pitches.
The opening marks the second phase of renovations at the site, following on from the re-opening of the 1930s designed heated outdoor pool in May. The Grade II listed pool, first opened in 1957, had been closed to the public since March 2009 when the Wycombe District Council announced that they could no longer afford to fund the running of the site.
Fusion's approach was one of working in partnership with local residents and the council, and has paid dividends with a stunning renovated facility. The sports and leisure management company, which operates as a registered charity, was awarded a 50 year lease of the site on the basis of its proposal to invest over £1million in refurbishing the pool and providing new facilities to make them self-financing and so secure their future.
The estimated £2million of renovation work is now nearing completion and has transformed the site, introducing an impressive range of new facilities for members. The final stage of the makeover will be completed shortly with the addition of a new café, The Lido Kitchen, which will open during the daytime and evening, and a purpose built meeting/activity room to provide extra space for hosting private functions.
The site upgrade has already caught the attention of local residents, with pre-launch membership sales looking very strong.
Fusion Lifestyle Director of Business Development,Tim Mills, said: "We are extremely proud of Wycombe Rye Lido, this has been a major development for Fusion and to see the new Gym and Studios open and looking so good is very rewarding. The response from the local population has been very encouraging and I am sure that the new Lido will flourish and become the top fitness facility in Wycombe.
"The Lido Kitchen will open shortly completing the redevelopment, this cafe will provide quality food and drinks, both pool side and park side, and is sure to become a destination in its own right."
Wycombe Rye Lido is one of over 60 centres across the South East of England and Greater London managed by Fusion Lifestyle, and aims to provide quality sports and leisure facilities for all members of the community at accessible prices. The centre will be running a timetable of varied outdoor and indoor fitness classes suitable for all members of the community, as well as hosting family fun events throughout the year.
