Spanish health club chain Metropolitan has opened a new 4m euro (US$6.3, £3.2m) sports, health and wellness centre in the city of Vigo in the Spanish region of Galicia.

Located on the top floor of the new A Laxe Shopping Centre, facilities at the 21,528sq ft (2,000sq m) club include a swimming pool and a spa area with a spa pool, Turkish bath and ice fountain. There is also a 5,382sq ft (500sq m) fitness suite equipped by Life Fitness.

The club also offers a 10,764sq ft (1,000sq m) outdoor space, suitable for exercise classes and relaxation. This terrace area also offers a solarium and the club has views over the estuary and Cies Islands.

It is the chain’s 13th club in Spain, with plans to open a further five in the country over the next few months in Seville, Barcelona, Castellón, Gerona and Torrelavega representing an additional investment of 20m euro (£15.8m, US$32m). Details: clubmetropolitan.net/vigo
