Fully inclusive registration
Nita Jackson, diagnosed as autistic at the age of 14 in 1997, has completed the YMCA Fitness Instructor course delivered as part of the Club Kingswood Academy.
Graduating from the course positions Nita at Level 2 on the REPs and demonstrates that social and communication difficulties need not be a barrier to registration.
Georgina Jupp, director of the Club Kingswood Academy, said: “The introduction of the Register of Exercise Professionals is vital in reinforcing the professionalism our industry is committed to delivering in terms of raising the standards of fitness instruction, especially when dealing with people with special considerations.
“Nita intends to use her qualification to help other young adults with similar conditions and is an excellent role model for those considering a career in the health and fitness industry.
“I’m confident that the personal and individual attention Nita received at CK Academy throughout the course along with the guidance and support we have offered since have made a significant contribution to Nita's achievements.”
Nita’s mother said: “This course has literally proved a life saver for Nita, who was becoming very depressed about her future. It has given her a purpose and a potential employment path which we thought was unattainable.”
CK Academy offers a complete prospectus of CYQ courses at venues throughout the south east and are experienced at delivering in house training to clubs nationwide
