Freedom Leisure unveils Hailsham kids gym
The £1m refurbishment of Hailsham Leisure Centre by Freedom Leisure was officially unveiled by BBC South East Today’s Kaddy Lee Preston at the end of March.
The facility now boasts eight lanes of ten-pin bowling, a large soft play centre, a toddler structure with slides and interactive game boards, a crèche and one of Sussex’s first junior gyms.
The gym boasts specially-designed children’s fitness equipment by Zig Zag Strength and is aimed at youngsters aged eight to 13.
Nigel Coltman, leader of Wealden District Council, said: “These wonderful new facilities are a testament to the commitment that Freedom Leisure has shown to the local community in continually looking to develop services that meet and exceed the needs and wants of local people.
“The council has supported this venture throughout from the initial vision right through to the launch. We are delighted to have a leisure centre that offers such an exciting range of activities in our district and I believe it will bring many people into Hailsham, which can only benefit the whole town.
“One of the most innovative facilities is the new junior gym which is the first in Sussex. This will provide the opportunity for a much younger age group to get active and enjoy exercise in a fun environment, where they can develop a habit for life. “
The refurbishment was carried out by Freedom Leisure in association with Alliance Leisure. Freedom Leisure operates 12 leisure centres throughout Sussex. Details: www.freedom-leisure.co.uk
