Four Seasons looking to bid for Savoy Group?
Canadian hotel operator, Fours Seasons, could be considering a bid for the Savoy Group.
The Toronto-based company – which already operates two of its branded hotels on Park Lane and at Canary Wharf – is rumoured to be ready to bid up to £800m for the entire Savoy portfolio.
If a deal is agreed, Savoy’s four London hotels – Claridge’s, the Savoy, the Connaught and the Berkeley – would become part of the rapidly expanding Four Seasons luxury hotel chain.
The operator would also take over the Simpson’s-in-the-Strand restaurant.
The news comes just five months after the Savoy Group’s current owners – the Blackstone Group and Colony Capital – put 203-room Claridge’s on the open market, five years since taking over the Savoy estate.
