Former stars to launch football centres
Two former international footballers have announced plans to roll out a chain of new community football training and development centres across the UK.
Called Complete Football, the concept has been developed by former Liverpool and Scotland midfielder Kenny Dalglish and ex-England and Everton player Paul Bracewell.
The duo aims to create a UK-wide network of training and development centres and football for all, regardless of age, gender, ethnic group, social background or ability level.
The company’s mission is to give everyone within the catchment area of each centre the opportunity to mimic their football heroes and grasp the fundamental rewards that only football can deliver.
The first £3m centre is due to open at Newcastle Racecourse in September 2007 and the company has announced plans to open 20 sites over the next five years.
Paul Bracewell said: “The Complete Football concept is about providing a safe, family environment with the very best of facilities to inspire the community to take part in a healthy, fun activity.
"The Complete Football concept provides the whole package. Off the pitch will be as important as on the pitch, with sports science studios, rehab facilities, a gym to enhance fitness and a classroom to welcome local schools.”
Complete Football has appointed West Midlands-based TigerTurf to deliver multiple five-a-side areas which utilise a durable community level surface.
Steve Hewitt, a spokesperson for TigerTurf, said: “Complete Turf was developed specifically for the Complete Football concept.
“We were asked for a surface that not only looked inviting, but played to the highest standards. With the potential of 6,000 or more visitors per week and the need to play all year round, durability was key.”
