Formby Hall announces multi-million-pound expansion plans
Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa, in Liverpool, UK, has unveiled multi-million-pound plans that will completely transform the four-star resort into a luxury leisure destination.
Planning applications submitted to Sefton Council by resort operator CS Hotel Solutions outline an £18m revamp project including a new spa building and hotel expansion, as well as a golf clubhouse, event space and more than 20 lakeside 'eco lodges' for overnight stays.
The resort, which currently boasts a 76-bedroom hotel, spa facilities, golf courses, driving range and golf shop, will undergo a significant expansion that will include the development of a new two-storey wing for the hotel.
The new wing will play host to 63 bedrooms, while the existing spa and health club will be converted to make space for a further 20 rooms. Meanwhile, the spa will be moved to its own building, 'a high-end new build' located near the Fairway Lake by the tenth hole. It will offer guests stunning views across the lake, and will feature a number of treatment rooms, relaxation areas, as well a thermal suite offering a variety of thermal experiences. Other facilities will include saunas, hot tubs, indoor and outdoor vitality pools and a bistro with an outdoor terrace.
Other developments include a number of residential properties, as well as a restaurant and leisure club.
