The Club Company investing £1.7m in fitness facilities
Golf and Health Club operator The Club Company is pumping £1.7m (US$2.1m, €2m) into refurbishing its Fitness facilities at Woodbury Park, near Exeter in Devon.
Work has begun to completely refurbish and extend the gym, with Technogym equipment being installed throughout, as well as an improved functional training area. There will also be a new spin studio, with Technogym bikes.
The existing dance studio and wet changing rooms will be refurbished, and the dry changing rooms will be revamped and extended. A new, adult-only wet spa area will be created, which will include an infinity hydro pool, Rohol sauna and steam room.
An on-site creche, called The Zoo, will also be added.
The new gym is scheduled to open during the first week of June, with other facilities planned to be completed throughout June and July.
The operator said: "We are incredibly excited about these extensive refurbishments, which will hugely improve Woodbury members’ fitness experience, and enjoyment of their club."
The Club Company acquired Woodbury Park, which is a golf hotel with a health club and spa, in November.
The 56-bedroom luxury hotel, originally created by former Formula 1 world champion Nigel Mansell, is on a 350-acre estate and was sold from a guide price of £11.8m (US$14.8m, €13.9m) – although the exact price was not disclosed.
The Club Company owns and operates 12 properties across the UK.
