Disney characters join battle against inactivity
UK-based physical activity providers are given the opportunity to use popular Disney characters to inspire children and their families to become more active this summer.
The 10 Minute Shake Up initiative – a partnership between public health programme Change4Life and entertainment giant Disney – aims to encourage children to achieve 60 minutes of moderate to intense physical activity each day with fun 10 minute bursts of activity.
Campaigns under the 10 Minute Shake Ups include the ‘just keep moving’ programme by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), which consists of interactive family swim sessions inspired by the new Disney·Pixar blockbuster, Finding Dory.
The swim sessions will provide an hour of in-water storytelling for the whole family, teaching children key swimming skills as they are taken on a journey with Dory and friends, led by trained instructors.
Industry operators are given the chance to sign up to support the campaign with ukactive and those taking part will receive a digital collateral pack to promote their activities on offer.
Steven Ward, ukactiveExecutive Director, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our members to take part in a summer initiative from Change4Life, Disney and the ASA to inspire children of all ages to get involved."
