First phase of Kennedy Space Center's 10-year redevelopment completed
A new US$16m (12.2m euro, £10m) entrance area has been unveiled at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) visitor attraction in Merritt Island, Florida, US.
Facilities include new improved ticketing services, a new grand plaza and fountain, information stations, a 2,500sq ft Voyagers retail shop and a restaurant.
The work was completed in partnership with Whiting-Turner Contracting Company (construction management), PGAV Destinations, Freeport Fountains, Electrosonic and Birdair (fabric canopy contractor).
The launch marks the completion of the first phase of the attraction's 10-year master plan.
Future developments include the relocation of the attraction's museum, extension of the IMAX theatre and the introduction of an observation tower.
KSC is operated by US-based Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts in partnership with NASA.
