First clubs to receive Cash4Clubs grants
Cash4Clubs, a scheme that gives money to grassroots sport, has announced the 15 clubs that have been awarded grants in the first round of funding since the initiative was launched nationally.
Funded by online betting company Betfair and SportsAid, the funding hands out awards of up to £1,000 on a quarterly basis, with applications judged by an independent committee.
The judging panel received more than 2,000 applications in the first round, of which 15 clubs were given awards totalling £10,000.
Clubs to receive cash in the first round include Andover Athletic Club (£1,000), which will use funding to establish a sprints and hurdles academy aimed at young people aged 11 to 18; Angmering Gymnastics in West Sussex (£1,000); and Glasgow Riderz (£1,000), a grassroots cycling club based in Paisley, Renfrewshire.
A full list of the 15 winners nationwide is available on the Cash4Clubs website.
