Firoka to upgrade Heythrop Park Hotel
Hotel operator The Firoka Group, which is owned by entrepreneur Firoz Kassam, has secured a £20m loan from Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) to fund the redevelopment of Heythrop Park Hotel in Oxfordshire.
The 116-bedroom hotel will be expanded and re-branded as a Crowne Plaza Hotel while new leisure facilities include a new 18-hole golf course spread across the property's 440-acre estate and a health and fitness club. The existing nine-hole golf course will also be refurbished.
According to Ashwini Twakley, Firoka's finance director, the new facilities will be launched in the last quarter of 2010.
"The RBS funding allows us to develop our hotel portfolio and we have selected Heythrop Park which we acquired in 2000, to be refurbished, significantly increasing the size and specification of this historic location," he said.
<> The support provided by the RBS team to deliver funding in a difficult market will help us to drive forward the long term business performance of the Firoka Group."Firoka currently owns five hotels - three of which are operated under the Intercontinental Hotel Group banner.
