FIA’s FLAME award winners announced at Gala Dinner
GL-14 The Health Club In Manchester and Amida Racquets and Fitness Spa in Beckenham were just two of the health and fitness centres to leave the Fitpro Business Gala Dinner on 22 September with a coveted Fitness Industry Association (FIA) FLAME award.
The awards, now in their tenth year, were announced as part of the Leisure Industry Week convention currently taking place at Birmingham NEC and were created by the FIA to recognise excellence within the health and fitness industry.
Andover Leisure Centre took the title of centre of the year, from a shortlist which included White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre in Abingdon and Malvern Splash in Hinckley.
The corporate club of the year was ‘Life’ at the Field of Dreams; beating the LivingWell-managed Canary Wharf Health Club and Lifestyle Woodlands at the BBC Club, London.
GL-14 The Health Club in Manchester took the award for club of the year (under 1,000 members) over the other shortlisted clubs, Spirit Health Club in Hull and Lifestyle Health and Leisure Club in Hayling Island.
The award for club of the year (1,000-2,500 members) was won by Branston Golf and Country Club over LA Fitness in Sutton Coldfield and Spirit Health Club in Fareham, while the club of the year (over 2,500 members) was Amida Racquets and Fitness Spa in Beckenham from a shortlist including Lensbury at Teddington Lock and LivingWell Premier, York.
Spirit Health Club in Hull, unlucky in its club of the year category, took home the Spirit of FLAME award.
