Fitness classes backed by BBC dragon set to swing into action
Swing School is launching a cardio fitness workout called SwingTrain with the backing of BBC Dragons’ Den investor Deborah Meaden.
The fitness regime has been developed by Scott Cupit, the dance teacher and entrepreneur who secured £65,000 (US$80,300, €77,000) for a 20 per cent stake in his dance school business on the BBC2 television show earlier this year.
Next month, SwingTrain will launch with more than 50 instructors holding classes in London, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Canterbury, Exeter, Manchester and Southend-on-Sea.
Hour-long sessions will also be starting in Berlin, Germany and Canberra, Australia.
SwingTrain is a workout accompanied by vintage sounds of swing, gospel, rhythm and blues, and jazz. Instructors lead participants through a series of moves inspired by three vintage street dances: the Charleston, the lindy hop and the shag.
The full body cardio workouts Exercise legs, arms and core, as well as developing coordination through routines.
Cupit said: “The best thing about SwingTrain is that it’s accessible to everyone, no matter their age, fitness levels or abilities. All that’s required is a desire for a positive experience. Each instructor will be running their own SwingTrain business, so hopefully we’re bringing a little bit of Dragons’ Den’s entrepreneurial spirit to their local area, not just a new fitness regime.”
