Don’t let the frogs croak it!
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is building a frog recovery facility in its park, which will study and exhibit the husbandry requirements of a variety of Australian frog species.
Its focus will be on addressing Queensland’s frog population which is under threat from climate change, exacerbated because they have a lower reproductive rate.
The facility will open later this year in time for the park’s Spring season.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary CEO Jonathan Fisher says, “Our focus is as much about conservation and research as it is about providing a great day out for our guests – and through this work we can provide a public face for the hard work going on behind the scenes to help save Queensland’s frog populations.”
The sanctuary is also working on an interactive wombat exhibit upgrade and the development of a new walkthrough Brushtail Rock Wallaby facility which will be built on half a hectare of land on the property.
