Diabline's new dimension in utility vehicles
Now available from Ransomes Jacobsen, the Cushman Diabline is an innovative, zero emissions, multi-purpose electrically powered utility vehicle which introduces a whole new dimension to light cargo and personnel carriers.
Powered by 8 x 6v batteries, with a speed of 30 mph, a range of 30 miles and approved across Europe for road use - plus being zero rated for road tax in the UK - the Diabline comes in three variants.
The Van version is available with rear doors only or with additional side shutters and a loading ramp and has a carrying capacity of 700kg on a load bed of 166cu ft with a unique low loading centre section.
Ideal for litter collection or landscaping duties, the Park and Garden version of the Tipper model of the Diabline has a special cage attachment on its cargo bed, while the Standard model features a drop tail gate and sides. Carrying capacity is as for the van version.
Lastly, the Shuttle Bus provides an ideal solution for airports, railway stations, resorts, bus terminals and anywhere else where people need to be moved around. It can seat up to 6 adults, plus the driver and a front seat passenger, and is wheelchair access available. The passenger compartment can be either open sided or enclosed.
With a structural chassis of aluminium alloy box section design and a light-weight GRP cab, the vehicle has an unladen weight of just over 500kg which not only increases the range of the batteries but allows it to drive over grass surfaces without damaging the turf.
Amongst existing users are Mobicité, which uses Diablines to move passengers from off-site parking to city centre rail stations at locations in France; the Sandy Balls Holiday Centre in the New Forest, where a van-bodied version is in use for general housekeeping duties; and Quadron Services, which has a fleet of 6 tipper versions in use for its contract for the maintenance of the parks and green spaces in the London Borough of Southwark and a further unit for its Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea contract in Holland Park.
The vehicle has recently been submitted for an environmental award sponsored by EAST (Environmental & Sustainable Technology) Journal, a body whose aim is to promote all forms of sustainable transport.
