Design team chosen for Alberta museum
Ledcor Design-Build (Alberta) has been appointed by the Government of Alberta to deliver the new Royal Alberta Museum in the centre of downtown Edmonton, Canada.
The team, which features Ledcor Construction, DIALOG Design and Lundholm Associates Architects, was selected following an evaluation of four shortlisted applicants.
It is anticipated that the new attraction will provide double the space currently offered by the existing museum and will be able to exhibit all of its artefacts in one location.
Multi-purpose spaces including a theatre, a café and outdoor terraces are planned as part of the scheme, which is designed to enhance the visitor experience and increase accessibility.
Ray Danyluk, Alberta's minister of infrastructure, said: "This is the right design for our new museum. It truly expresses our province's history, landscapes, and potential.
"Like our province, our new museum will represent the best of what the world has to offer, celebrating our past, our present and our future."
Edmonton mayor Stephen Mandel added: "[The provincial government] has chosen a design that reflects the importance of both the new location in the heart of our city, and more significantly, the legacy it will house."
