Council unveils Canterbury park consultation
Residents in Canterbury, Kent, have been given the opportunity to have their say on the local authority's plans to transform Westgate Gardens and Toddlers Cove.
Ideas put forward by Canterbury City Council (CCC) include a new children's play area; event spaces; new seating and lighting; and a series of new fishing and canoeing platforms. The council has confirmed that it plans to submit a bid for Heritage Lottery Funding later this summer to help fund the work, with draft masterplans for both areas now available for comment.
CCC executive member for the environment Rosemary Doyle said: "The Westgate Gardens and Toddlers Cove are both well used by local people and visitors, but we think there are improvements that can be made. "The views of local people play a crucial role in the submission of a bid for lottery funding because it is important we show there is community support for what we want to do."
Residents are being invited to complete a questionnaire by 9 July.
