Council orders further DG One surveys
Dumfries and Galloway Council (DGC) has confirmed that further "intrusive surveys" are to be carried out at the DG One leisure complex, following a series of issues at the venue.
Since its opening in May 2008, the £17m building has undergone a number of repairs to the fabric - including problems with tiling in the DG One pools in February 2011. DGC has now said that initials surveys into the reasons behind the need for ongoing repairs has led to the local authority ordering further surveys to identify any defect.
A spokesperson for the council said: "In the meantime, it is business as usual at DG One and the Council will ensure that the public are kept fully informed of any issues that are likely to affect their use of the facility." Built by Kier Northern, DG One includes an 80-station gym fitted with Vivo cardiovascular and Life Fitness resistance machines; a 25m, eight-lane pool; and a leisure pool.
