Conserving energy with Perth and Kinross Leisure
Perth and Kinross Leisure has made several money-saving changes throughout its portfolio following an energy audit of its nine Perthshire leisure centres carried out by the Carbon Trust.
These changes have included installing plug in time clocks on all electrical equipment saving approximately £2,500 per annum, replacing taps with spring loaded bush caps at Bell’s Sports Centre to reduce water consumption, and introducing a new energy efficient lighting system at Perth Leisure Pool.
Loch Leven Leisure Centre has also seen the installation of an Ultra Violet water treatment system which replaces the existing ozone generator and removes the costly generation of ozone on site, as well as reducing consumption of other pool chemicals.
This has resulted in savings of approximately £5,000 per year in electrical costs, £4,000 per year in service charges and significant improvement to the air quality in the pool hall.
