Condé Nast Traveller magazine has announced the winners of its 2006 Readers’ Traveller Awards.

Categories ranged from UK and International Leisure Hotels to Best Airline and also featured a number of different spa sections.

The top UK Hotel Spa was a new entry – The Spa at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire. This pushed last year’s winner Sequoia at The Grove in Hertfordshire to second place with The Spa at London’s Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park coming third.

In the Overseas Hotel Spas category, Banyan Tree Spa in Bangkok, Thailand, triumphed while the Mandara Spa in Langkawi, Malaysia came second. Third place went to the Six Senses Spa at Soneva Fushi in the Maldives, followed by The Oriental Spa at the The Oriental in Bankok and the Tanjong Club Spa at the Tanjong Jara Resort in Malaysia.

The Ananda Spa at Ananda in the Himalayas, India, came top in the worldwide Destination Spas category, followed by Chiva-Som International Health Resort in Hua Hin, Thailand and the Spa Hôtel Royal, Evian Royal Resort at Evian-les-Bains in France.

Elsewhere, Chewton Glen in Hampshire came top in the UK Leisure Hotels category with The Dorchester in London named as the top UK Business Hotel.

On an international basis, the Leisure Hotel awards were split into five sub-sections, with winners including the Parrot Cay Resort and Spa in Turks and Caicos Islands and Amanpuri Phuket in Thailand while The Park Hyatt Tokyo was placed first in the Overseas Business Hotel award.
